The long story: About two and a half years ago, I made the grave mistake of purchasing an expensive high-end gaming laptop that has – in the short time I’ve owned it – failed in just about every single way a computer CAN fail, short of “physically exploding while I’m trying to use it”. Whenever I’ve had a problem the manufacturer’s warranty refuses to cover (brief aside: the hinge breakage was not “accidental damage” unless you consider “gently closing the laptop exactly as intended” an accident) I’ve taken it to Stacy. While I’ve been sorely disappointed in the laptop, I have never once been disappointed with his service.
The most recent worst-case scenario: screen failure. After a screen and motherboard replacement through the “official” repair service (which manufacturer warranty mercifully covered, even if I found out after the fact they installed the wrong motherboard), my screen started dying again not long after replacement – and (of course) right after the warranty period ended.
I pushed my ailing laptop as far as it would go. I wrung every ounce of functionality I could out of it. With anywhere from half to two-thirds of the screen illegible at any given time I couldn’t work around it anymore. I took it to Stacy. Within minutes, he established it was in fact a screen issue (rather than a program or internal component problem). I decided I’d rather buy a new laptop than continue repairing a machine that seemed bent on burning itself to the ground. In under a week, Stacy came through yet again with a selection of eminently affordable leaseback laptops.
Thanks to Stacy and this practical little Dell he found for me, I can finally see what I’m typing, drawing and reading again. Thank you, Stacy!
